Sutter Health is being sued for negligence and other allegations of theft of computer center in mid-October, Sutter Medical Foundation that lasts more than 4 million patient information.
Class action suit was filed Monday on behalf of the plaintiff Karen Pardieck Folsom in Sacramento Superior Court, alleges that the Sacramento based health networks in maintaining computer fails and the data and then not tell the millions of patients whose data is lost in the time required by the laws of the State. The suit seeks $ 1,000 for each class member and attorney fees.
Computers stolen during break-in through the window is destroyed over the weekend of October 15. The employee discovered the theft of 17 October. Sutter was notified patients last week.
"Sutter should had the under lock and key, are not protected by a glass panel," lawyer Robert Buccola of Sacramento firms Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood LLP, filed a lawsuit, said Tuesday. "If there is information in their files, they have a financial interest to ensure the security of the most important."
Some 3.3 million patient provider backed by Sutter medical services are affected.
